ABOUT THE OBJECT:

Monumental historicist building on Brno's Okružní třída from 1882. Adapted after World War II according to the project of Bohuslav Fuchs, the last reconstruction was completed in 2021.

The building of the Museum of Decorative Arts of the Moravian Gallery received a new concept of ART DESIGN FASHION with the reconstruction. It foreshadows that the museum is dedicated not only to design itself but also to fashion and the relationship between design and art. Visitors can expect a permanent exhibition, exhibitions, and new facilities prepared exclusively for the Moravian Gallery by leading Czech designers.

PERMANENT EXHIBITION:

ART DESIGN FASHION

The building of the Museum of Decorative Arts of the Moravian Gallery has acquired a new concept: ART DESIGN FASHION. It foreshadows the fact that the museum is dedicated not only to design itself but also to fashion and the relationship between design and art. Visitors can look forward to a permanent exhibition, exhibitions, and new facilities prepared exclusively for the Moravian Gallery by leading Czech designers. The changed appearance of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Brno represents an imaginary showcase of Czech designers and their products. This multi-layered concept is unparalleled in the Czech Republic regarding scope and quality.

DESIGNLAB

The educational space for workshops, discussions, and other activities is equipped with technologies such as 3D printers, a cutting plotter, thermopress, a programmable embroidery machine, sewing machines, or an animation and photography studio. You can come and create at DESIGNLAB every Wednesday from 5 pm to 8 pm. For more information, email edukace@moravska-galerie.cz.

DESIGN SHOP:

The Moravian Gallery's Designshop concentrates on current work by Czech design icons. It offers prestigious, award-winning, exclusive, and limited collections. The offer is complemented by publications not only from the Moravian Gallery's production.

THE CLOUD

The interactive object "Cloud" is the work of architect Marek Štěpán, who sought inspiration for it in the works of the Surrealists or in the clouds of Josef Šíma. In addition to light and changing colors, "Cloud" can also make sounds or react to external stimuli. It has been designed as a pneumatic cushion and multimedia tool that will transform the Museum of Decorative Arts terrace into an iconic meeting place and social event.

CAFÉ ROBOT

Offering an unusual experience associated with the preparation of coffee by a robotic barista, the range of coffees is expanded to include the so-called selfieccino. The Café Robot space has great acoustics thanks to the glass, which is made of highly ecological design material made of Czech crystal. Opening hours are identical to the museum.

COFFEE & WINE BAR

Comfortable seating on the terrace under the Cloud, a wide range of natural wines, coffee and soft drinks, and Obora beer.
